Who we are
Bhongweni FM was established with one simple mission in mind: to bring the best music, news, interviews and best programming to the coolest listeners. Bhongweni FM is a radio that was started with the aim to educate and equip Kokstad residents about radio and broadcasting, we aim to help the community to spread knowledge and information across the whole of Kokstad through means of broadcasting. This radio station will uplift small businesses and offer them space to share their businesses on air, we have volunteers as part of our team.
Where we from
Greater Kokstad Municipality is an administrative area in the Harry Gwala District Municipality of Kwa Zulu-Natal in South Africa. The name Kokstad is derived from Dutch and it means “Town of Kok”. It was named after Adam Kok III. Kokstad serves as the services centre and commercial hub for most of East Griqauland and nearby parts of the Eastern Cape it borders with.
